Our Leadership
Founder and CEO of Sentinella Mare. James leads the company's strategic direction, the development of its intelligence framework, and its institutional partnerships across the Mediterranean.
He brings more than a decade of federal law enforcement and hybrid threat intelligence experience to the role, with deep coverage of both Latin America and Russia and fluency in Spanish and Russian. His operational background spans all-source intelligence collection, virtual operations, protective intelligence, and disinformation campaigns. That cross-domain experience is the foundation of the MHTES framework that powers Sentinella Mare — a single, operationally validated exposure score that synthesises five threat vectors into one continuously updated picture.
James founded Sentinella Mare to bring the integrated, all-source craft developed inside federal service to the commercial maritime operators who increasingly need it.
Co-Founder and CTO of Sentinella Mare. Jianyin leads software architecture, engineering, and data infrastructure for the Sentinella Mare platform, directing the design, development, and deployment of the MHTES scoring engine, data pipelines, and client-facing dashboard.
He brings more than ten years of data science and data journalism experience to the role, with a background spanning text-mining NLP models in both English and Chinese, predictive analytics, and machine learning applied across logistics, supply chain, finance, public policy, and social media domains. His technical foundation — built on large-scale data pipeline design, database architecture, and applied machine learning frameworks ranging from neural networks to Bayesian methods — underpins the platform's integration of AIS data feeds, open-source intelligence sources, and commercial data providers into a single operational system. He also oversees the Company's cloud infrastructure, cybersecurity standards, and technology roadmap, working closely with the CEO and founding team.
Jianyin previously conducted research in computational social science at the Max Planck Institute of Geoanthropology and has spent his career applying data science to social good and civic technology. That commitment to using data for public benefit, paired with deep technical craft in open-source intelligence tooling and agentic AI systems, drives his work building the infrastructure behind Sentinella Mare's maritime intelligence platform.
Co-Founder and COO of Sentinella Mare. Erika leads the company's operational infrastructure, regulatory and compliance posture, and institutional partnership development, translating Sentinella's technical capabilities into deployable solutions for clients and partners.
She brings more than eight years of public policy and management consulting experience to the role, supporting U.S. federal agencies — including the IRS, FEMA, and DHS — on regulatory compliance, emergency management, and data-driven operational improvement. Her background spans national-level emergency management policy and doctrine, business continuity and resilience planning, program evaluation for federally mandated initiatives, and workforce training design grounded in adult learning methodologies.
That cross-functional experience is the foundation of Sentinella Mare's operating architecture — the compliance frameworks, service agreements, and partnership structures that move the MHTES methodology from concept to contract with Mediterranean port authorities, fleet operators, and subsea cable stakeholders.
Erika co-founded Sentinella Mare to give the MHTES framework the institutional backbone it needs to operate credibly with regulators and partners across the Mediterranean.
